Listen up, folks!

We’ve got a situation in neurosurgery, and it’s not looking good for the women, especially in Pakistan. We’re talking about big disparities in training opportunities between the guys and the gals. It’s time to take a hard look at what’s going on.

We did a huge survey, reaching out to 22 programs across the country. And guess what? Out of 120 trainees, only about 29% were women. That’s not even close to half! The women are saying they’re not getting a fair shake. They’re more worried about equality, they’re struggling with work-life balance, and they’re burning out because of crazy hours.

But here’s something: the women are actually getting more mentorship, which is great, but they’re still working fewer hours than the men. And when it comes to getting their hands dirty in surgery, they’re not as satisfied as the men. That’s a problem!

Now, the women are getting to more teaching courses and conferences, which is fantastic. They’re hitting the books, attending the big meetings, and they’re right there in the thick of it with case discussions and learning from mistakes.

Bottom line: We’ve got a real issue with gender gaps in neurosurgery training in Pakistan. It’s about working hours, burnout, mentorship, and just plain fairness. We need to do something, and we need to do it fast. Let’s make neurosurgery great for everyone, folks!
