Listen up, folks, we’ve got a situation in the operating rooms—especially the pediatric ones. We’re talking about surgical smoke, a real hazard for our great perioperative staff. It’s a problem, a big one, and we’re tackling it head-on, believe me.

We’ve got this fantastic project, guided by the top-notch JBI Model, and let me tell you, it’s all about evidence, the best evidence. We’re using these incredible tools—the JBI Practical Application of Clinical Evidence System and the Getting Research into Practice strategy. It’s all about making things better, safer, and more efficient.

So, we did an audit, a baseline audit. And guess what? The compliance with best practices was only 41%. Not good, not good at all. We need to do better, and we’re going to do better. We’ve got seven criteria, and five of them need a lot of work.

We identified three big barriers, huge barriers. But we’ve got solutions—great solutions. We developed an educational module, top-of-the-line, and a risk assessment tool for surgical smoke exposure. We’re educating people, making them aware, and keeping them safe.

And the results? Tremendous. A 30% improvement in compliance. That’s what we call winning. But let’s not get complacent. We’ve got more work to do, and we’re going to keep pushing for the best, the absolute best practices for managing surgical smoke. We’re making the operating room great again, for everyone.
