Let me tell you, folks, we’ve got something incredible here. We looked into how long patients stay in the hospital after surgery, thinking, “Hey, if we cut this down, we’re gonna save a ton of money, right?” But, and this is huge, it’s not that simple. We dove deep, looked at the numbers – real numbers, from real patients in General, Neuro, and Orthopedic surgery. And what we found, believe me, it’s something else.

We had over 800 patients in this study, a big study, with all kinds of surgeries. Most of these folks, they were out in less than a week. But here’s the kicker: when we crunched the numbers, converting all those Pakistani rupees to dollars, we saw the big picture. And let me tell you, the cost doesn’t just go down in a straight line the quicker you get patients out. No, it’s all over the place, nonlinear, unpredictable.

The real money, it’s spent on the day of the surgery. That’s where the action is. After that, the costs, they start to drop off, big time. By the last day in the hospital, we’re talking peanuts, just 2.4% to 3.2% of the total bill. So, if you’re looking to save some real money, you’ve got to focus on the surgery day itself. That’s where the battle is won or lost.

So, to all the smart people out there trying to cut healthcare costs, listen up: it’s not about rushing patients out the door. It’s about making that surgery day as efficient as possible. That’s how we’re going to make healthcare great again, by focusing on where it really counts.
