Out of 95,942 children, believe me, 6.0% needed to go back to the hospital later. That’s 5,727 kids! And not just for a small check-up, no. We’re talking 5,062 rehospitalizations and 2,012 surgeries. The best doctors told us, the median time before they had to go back? Just 10 days. Can you believe it?

Now, if you’re under 5 years old, things are tougher, much tougher. Your chances of needing to go back are almost double compared to the big kids over 14. And if you’ve got other health issues or your appendicitis was complicated, the risk is even higher. It’s like, the odds are stacked against you.

And let’s talk money, because it’s a lot. If you didn’t need to go back to the hospital, the cost was around $6,553. But if you did? Skyrocket to $19,589. We’re talking big, big numbers here. It’s clear, we’ve got to focus on prevention, especially for our youngest and those with complicated cases. It’s the smart thing to do, the best thing to do.
