Let me tell you, folks, we’ve got something incredible here, something really, really amazing. We’re talking about Emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (F/TDF) for HIV preexposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, as they call it. This is a big deal, especially for cisgender men who have sex with men (MSM). When they stick to it, when they’re really committed, taking more than 4 doses a week, it’s highly effective. But, and this is important, we’ve been wondering, how does it work for cisgender women? Well, let me tell you, we’ve got the answers now.

We looked at data from 11 studies, folks, in 6 countries, covering 6296 cisgender women. That’s a lot of data, a lot of information. These studies ran from 2012 to 2020, and what we found is something to be proud of. We measured adherence both objectively and subjectively, and guess what? When women stick to the regimen, when they take their doses consistently, the results are fantastic.

Here’s the deal: None of the women with consistently daily adherence got HIV. That’s right, none. And for those with consistently high adherence, the incidence was incredibly low. We’re talking about real results, real effectiveness. But, and it’s a big but, adherence is key. The more you stick with it, the better it works.

So, to all the incredible women out there, this is a game-changer. F/TDF for PrEP works, it really does, but you’ve got to commit to it. We’re seeing very low HIV incidence among those who do. It’s about taking control, about protection. And let me tell you, it’s something we can all be proud of. This is about saving lives, about making a difference. And with F/TDF for PrEP, we’re doing just that. It’s huge.
