Listen, folks, we’ve got something incredible here, really fantastic. We’re talking about BLVR, that’s Bronchoscopic Lung Volume Reduction. It’s a game-changer, minimally invasive, and it’s doing wonders for people with emphysema. But here’s the thing, emphysema and lung cancer, they often go hand in hand, because, you know, they share risk factors. So, we’re seeing more and more patients who’ve had BLVR and then, boom, they get hit with lung cancer.
So, we did this study, a great study, really smart people involved. We looked back at patients who had BLVR and then needed surgery for non-small cell lung cancer, that’s NSCLC. We checked their data, really good data, and we wanted to see how they did after the surgery. We had eight patients, and let me tell you, they were doing better after BLVR. Their lung function, way better. We’re talking about FEV1, FVC, DLCO, and even their walking test, the 6MWT, all improved. And the residual volume, it went down. That’s what we want to see!
Now, these patients, they had to get the cancer out, right? So, they had different types of surgery – wedge resection, lobectomy, segmentectomy. And guess what? No big complications, none. And their lung function after the surgery, still good, no significant drop. That’s huge. Plus, the survival, median survival was 35 months, and no cancer coming back. None.
So, what’s the bottom line? The lung function boost from BLVR, it’s so good that people who couldn’t have surgery before, now they can. They can get that cancer out. This is big, folks. It’s a big deal. We’re making things better for a lot of people. That’s what we’re doing.
