Listen, folks, we’ve got our healthcare workers, the best, really, on the frontlines of this COVID-19 pandemic. They’re out there, more at risk than anyone else, believe me. We looked at Jakarta, a big hotspot in Indonesia, and what did we find? We did a study, a big one, from March to October 2020, and it’s clear, our healthcare workers, they’re catching the virus at more than double the rate of others. That’s right, an odds ratio of 2.04 – it’s huge, and it’s not good.

But here’s the thing, the death rate for these incredible people? It’s about the same as for non-healthcare workers. They’re tough, they’re resilient, and they’re not dying more than anyone else. We’ve got policies, strong policies, that came in and helped. When we got serious, April to July, we saw a drop in cases in hospitals, and our healthcare workers, they were safer.

So what’s the bottom line? Our healthcare heroes, they’re catching the virus more, but they’re not dying more. We need to keep our hospitals from overflowing, we need to protect our people. It’s about safety, it’s about strength, and it’s about winning this fight against COVID-19. And with the right policies, we can do it. We can do it better than anyone else, that I can tell you.
