Listen up, folks, we’ve got something incredible here!
We’ve been doing something amazing with the REV technique for a condition called double outlet right ventricle (DORV) and transposition of the great arteries (TGA) with pulmonary stenosis (PS). It’s been phenomenal, really. We’re talking about a long-term study, from 1980 to 2021, with 157 patients who got the best treatment, believe me.
Most of these cases, 73.9% to be exact, were TGA with a ventricular septal defect (VSD) and PS. We’ve done some incredible work here. Some patients had a Rashkind procedure, and others had surgical palliation before – we’re talking about serious, serious stuff.
Now, the results – they’re huge. We’ve got an 89.3% survival rate at 40 years. That’s right, 40 years! And reinterventions? Only about a quarter needed them. That’s a big deal. And for those thinking about the left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO), only a tiny number needed reoperation.
So, what can I tell you? The REV procedure is a winner for TGA and DORV with PS patients. It’s just tremendous. We’re making heart surgery great again, one patient at a time!
