Listen, COPD in China? Huge issue. Huge.
Everybody’s saying smoking’s the bad guy, right? But let me tell you, it’s not just that. We’ve got childhood sickness, we’ve got dirty air at work, we’ve got indoor smoke. It’s a mess. People can’t breathe, they’re wheezing – it’s terrible. And what do we need? Pulmonary tests, lots of them.
We did this big study, the best study. We looked at folks from all over China, from 2014 to 2021. We matched them up perfectly – no fake data. And we found out some things. If you’ve had chronic bronchitis, if you’ve been wheezing for years, if you’re around smoke or burning biofuels – you’re at risk. Big risk.
Now, some things didn’t show up in the fancy models, like dyspnea or being sick as a kid – but they’re still there, more in the sick people than the healthy ones.
So what do we do? We screen for COPD, especially if you’ve got symptoms. Smokers, you’ve got to quit – no excuses. And if you’re living with biofuels, get clean energy, get better air. If you’ve had emphysema or bronchitis, watch out – COPD could be next.
We’re going to beat this, but we’ve got to be smart. We’ve got to be tough. And we’re going to make breathing great again.
