Listen up, folks!
We’ve got some incredible numbers here, really fantastic. We’re talking about vaccine effectiveness (VE) against COVID-19, and let me tell you, it’s huge. We’ve combined data from two major European hospital networks, and what we’ve found is just tremendous.
During the Alpha period, which was March to June 2021, the VE for the Comirnaty vaccine after a full primary series was 85%. That’s right, 85%! And for those aged 80 and above, still a very strong 75%. But wait, it gets even better.
When the Delta variant came around, things changed a bit, but with a booster, the VE shot up to 91% for those who got it at least 150 days after their last dose. We’re talking about protection that’s through the roof!
And here’s the kicker: if you had your last vaccine dose less than 90 days before getting sick, the VE was over 90%. Even up to 179 days, you’re looking at a VE of at least 70%. These are numbers you can’t ignore.
So, to sum it up, our study from these European hospitals shows that the vaccines are doing a phenomenal job, especially with a booster. The VE is higher against Alpha, but with Delta, that booster is key to keeping you safe. It’s clear, it’s proven, it’s a fact!
